Thoubal: Lions Club of Wangjing, Lions Club International, District 322 D distributed essential items to senior citizens presently staying at IRDEO Old Aged Home, Wangbal, Thoubal District on Saturday.
The distributed items include 2 rice bags, 20 Kgs of Dal, 1 Ata bag, 5 packets of mineral water and 10 Dettol hand sanitizers, etc.
The help was being carried out in connection with the annual meeting cum installation of new Board Of Directors (BODs) for the year 2020-21 which was later held at the complex of IRE Group of Institution, Wangjing on Saturday itself.
The event witnessed the presence of Vice District Governor-II, Lions Club International, District 322 D Lion PMJF Dr. Gopimohon W, President of Lions Club Wangjing Lion MJF Narengbam Rajivkumar and Lion MJF Kh.Memcha as Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively.
Reading the annual club report, Secretary of Lions Club Wangjing H. Dayananda Sharma briefed that Lions Club Wangjing was inaugurated and installed on December 22, 2019 and has 24 members at present.
He also recalled that the club initiated a mega mission of cleanliness drive entitled “Go Clean Mission”. It continued for 224 days non-stop then before the lock down of COVID 19 began, he told.
Secretary Dayananda also highlighted some of the major services the club had rendered so far. He said that the club had conducted a Peace Poster Contest, felicitated Mutum Tombimacha who was a National Best Teacher Awardee, 2019. The club also conducted a free medical camp in relation with World Diabetes Day 2019 at Heirok, Thoubal District, he added.
The Dias members while delivering their speech stressed the need of Lions Club and the role played by Lions clubs in maintaining peace and harmony across the nation.
