(L) Naoroibam Sarju tests negative for COVID-19 prior to post mortem at JNIMS

IMPHAL: Naoroibam Sarju, the 22 year old girl who tragically committed suicide at her home on Sunday during home quarantine period was tested for Covid-19 apparently as a precautionary exercise before her post mortem examinations and her result returned negative. 

The deceased girl is the daughter of N. Shanta from Singjamei Pebiya Pandit Leikai under Irilbing police station. Her body was found hanging from the ceiling in her room on Sunday.

Sample was extracted from her body and tested at JNIMS lab, the third Covid-19 test carried out on her, and the result came negative. She had tested twice for Covid-19 when she was undergoing institutional quarantine and after she was declared free of the contagion and released for home quarantine.

Her body was brought to JNIMS morgue for post mortem. It has been reported that a medical team of JNIMS wearing PPEs joined in conducting the post mortem of the deceased student.

The unfortunate incident that came to light on Sunday had shocked the state, amidst the concern over mental stress and anxiety gripping the people at the quarantine centres and outside from Coronavirus related psychosis. It has come to knowledge that she came back from Delhi to Manipur with mild symptoms of fever, having records of dengue infection a month before she reached her hometown. Even after reaching the state and she has to undergo SOPs measures, and she stayed at Bashikhong Quarantine Center. There she has been tested twice at the centre and after a result of negative she was given advice to undergo home quarantine.
