IMPHAL: The Kangleipak Students’ Association (KSA) on Wednesday doled out rice and vegetables to the students staying in the rented house and hostels in different parts of Imphal West, who are facing a hard life due to nationwide lockdown and Curfew imposed by the Government to curb spread of COVID-19.
KSA volunteers donated the rice and vegetables to the students staying at different rented houses and hostels at Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan leikai, Uripok Hijam Leikai, Manipur University Ladies Hostel, Thangmeiband Lourungpurel leikai, Kwakeithel, Chingmeirong, Langthabal Kunja, Kiyamgei, Khumbong, Haobam Marak Chingtham and Mayang Imphal Bengoon.
KSA said their volunteers could detect several poor families which have been deprived of the rights meant for a citizen of the country. The volunteers provided rice bags and vegetables to two poor families.
KSA sought public support to its effort to save students’ community and to bring equal development.
It also said that the state government’s move to construct a quarantine centre at Langthabal Loukol is a good step to fight COVID-19. The contributions made by the members of KSA will be donated to construction of the Centre, it added.
