KIC appeals govt to settle Council imbroglio

TMB Report

Imphal: The Kuki Inpi Churachanpur (KIC) has appealed the state government and the High Court to settle the present Council imbroglio at the earliest otherwise the Kuki Civil Societies of Churachandpur will not remain a silent bystander, and any eventuality which arises out of it will be the sole responsibility of the Government.

In a press statement of KIC, it was stated that the recurring power struggle amongst the District Council Members, dividing themselves into one camp or the other is nothing but an aberration, a boorish conduct on the part of the elected representatives i.e. – the MDCs. This despicable and

irresponsible behaviour has become a new norm, an anomaly, synonymous with the Autonomous District Council Churachandpur.

Such an irresponsible behaviour on the part of the MDCs, has largely eroded the trust of the people the public in their sincerity and propriety as elected representatives, accountable to their electorate/ to the people. Far from taking up their bounden duties of development & working for the welfare of the people they are supposed to represent, the incumbent MDCs have exhausted a majority of their term, locking themselves up in one camp or the other, thus completely paralyzing the functioning of the ADC.

The Kuki Inpi Churachandpur stated that it is peeved and annoyed to no end that the whole gamut of the political play is engineered by the group(s) to thwart the other group or vice versa, which is a clear indication of their self-centeredness and bigotry. This detestable culture has to end right away, in the interest of the people, said the statement.

The KIC fervently appealed to all ADC Members to listen to their inner voices and to immediately shun such petty politics and groupism, and to start conducting themselves as responsible representatives, so that the confidence of the public in the institution of the ADC could be restored within this short period of their extended tenure, and to always keep the interest of the general public/the people paramount and above all other considerations, it added.
