Khumlo Morningson, P. Neisochun wins 1st Run Chandel Run 2020

Chandel: Khumlo Morningson and P. Neisochun on Saturday won the first ever Run Chandel Run 2020 mini marathon organized by Wisecrabs Chandel in Chandel district.

Khumlo Morningson won in the 12 km run Man Category while P. Neisochum won in the 6 km Women & Dream run Category. There were given a cash award of Rs 15,000 each, a trophy and a certificate.

The event, Run Chandel Run 1st Ever Mini Marathon was organised by Wisecrabs in Collaboration with 18 AR, District Police, District Administration, 8th MR, DSA Chandel and District Health Department.

The run, which began from Kapaam for Men and JNV Chandel for Women, saw about 200 runners from different parts of the District. Former Indian Football Team Captain Mr. Renedy flagged off the Men’s Category from Kapaam (Komlathabi) while Col. Ajit Khatri, 18 AR flagged off for the Women & Dream Run Category from JNV Chandel.

In the 12 km run for Men, Khumlo Morningson Anal from Phunchung Village, Bs. John Anal from Lamphou Charu Village and Kh. Allwinson from Japhou Village Chandel stood first, second and third respectively. In the 6 km run Women & Dream run category P. Neisochun from Unapat, Tungdim Anita and Sr. Ningnihring from Chandel stood first, second and third positions respectively.

Chairman of Organising Committee Ts Mhanthung Anal said, “In today’s fast paced, competitive and physically taxing world, every third person suffers from diabetes, blood pressure, obesity, depression and many more conditions. Run Chandel Run aims to promote healthy lifestyle, peaceful environment and unity amongst the different communities Living in Chandel”.

The marathon is an attempt to promote unity in diversity, a healthy and sustainable environment and also an opportunity to facilitate a better understanding and connection between the administration, defence Personnel and common citizens at the grass-root level, he added.

In the 12 and 6 km run, male and female, young and aged, students and teachers, children and adults and all, more than 200 runners took part and felt the happiness of running together for a cause of bringing a healthy society.
