IMPHAL: In an inspiring story, a young girl raised by a single mother who works as a sweeper with Imphal Municipal Corporation overcame her humble background to beat all competition in the Arts stream of the Class XII board examination conducted by COHSEM.
The topper Khomdram Menaka Devi is a student of the esteemed TG Higher Secondary School. She is the only child born to late Khomdram Shyamkishore Singh and Shantibala Devi from Kwakeithel Moirang Purel Leikai.
On the road to her achievement, Menaka said that she studied for an average of 4 hours on schooldays and her study hours get stretched to 6 or 7 hours on holidays. She had put extra efforts on English and Sociology taking tuitions in the two subjects to improve her grades. Her other subjects were Manipuri, Political Sciences and History.
Menaka is particularly interested in Political Sciences though, and she aspires to take it up for her degrees and ultimately wants to crack the UPSC Examinations. Her childhood ambition is to be an IAS officer with a farther dream of taking up the cudgel in the fight to root out corruption in the state and bring to order a better and peaceful society. She gave credits for her success to her parents, relatives, teachers and friends who had assisted her to close in on the present achievement.
The Arts topper further gave a message to all the people of the state amidst this pandemic to follow the government protocols and norms in order to triumph against the spread of Covid-19 disease.
