TMB Report

IMPHAL: The people of Chakpikarong in Chandel district on Friday condemned and demanded Kankhu Phetha Volunteers (KPV) to come out and clarify on recent threats posed by them to individuals, politicians, social leaders and communities of the area.

KPV recently threatened individuals, politicians, social leaders and communities of the area with bombs in a notice-cum-warning circulated at Chakpikarong area on the intervening night of November 23 and 24.

Following the tension that has been prevailing in the area since then, the tension-gripped residence on Friday convened a meeting at Chakpikarong Bazar under the aegis of Anal Naga Tangpi (ANTA).

The meeting, after thoroughly deliberating on the prevailing tensions in the area, resolved to demand the KPV to come out in the open with substantial evidences to support the allegations hurled by them at individuals, politicians, social leaders and communities of the area.

The public meeting further resolved to condemn the senseless act of circulating the notice-cum-warning allegedly by members of the KPV in its strongest term.

Talking to reporters on the sideline of the meeting, ANTA president Phamhring Sengul said that the public meeting was convened noting seriously the pamphlets circulated in the area.

The contents of the pamphlet have assassinated characters of the individual, politicians, social leaders and communities of not only Chakpikarong area but also of the state, he said.

Asserting that the public of the area were disappointed by the acts of the miscreants, Phamhring warned that such senseless acts will bring nothing good but spew communal venoms to create communal tension in the area.

Those miscreants behind the acts should come out to the dialogue table before the situation gets worse, he said.

ANTA, the apex body of the Anal community, had earlier condemned in the strongest term, the allegations and threat of bomb attacks made by the so called KPV.

ANTA is deeply disappointed by the senseless act of spewing venom and inciting communal tension against community leaders, clan, apex Civil society/organizations, religious bodies and eminent political figures of Manipur without any basis, respect and sense of civilization, Phamhring Sengul, President, ANTA had said.
