KANGPOKPI: Considering the present pandemic COVID-19 situation in Kangpokpi District ‘very sensitive’ and likely to cause danger to human life, health and public safety if it is left unchecked, the District Magistrate/DC Kangpokpi declared whole of Kangpokpi District under ‘complete lockdown’ till July 30 today with immediate effect.
In his prohibitory order under Section 144 Cr.P.C 1973, Somorjit Salam, IAS, District Magistrate Kangpokpi while exercising of the powers conferred upon him under Section 144 of CrPC prohibited the movement of any person or vehicle outside their respective residence with immediate effect in the whole of the district except for the activities permitted under Home Department order and his office order today.
It also stated that anyone found violating the prohibitory order is liable to be prosecuted under relevant rules. However, the order shall not apply to the agencies of the Government involve in law and order and maintenance of essential service.
The District Magistrate/DC Kangpokpi, Somorjit Salam, IAS also issued a separate orders highlighting the exempted lists of activities in the new guidelines for lockdown by the Home Department, Government of Manipur today.
As on July 23, the cumulative number of positive cases in Kangpokpi is 257 out of which 101 have been cured and discharged while the active cases stands at 156. These figures are from the 4837 sample sent for testing and its results.
There are 471 under surveillance at Home Quarantine and 186 are under surveillance at Institutional Quarantine Centre while 7 persons are under surveillance at Community Quarantine Centre as on July 23 in the district.
