Kakching: A combined team of Kakching Commando Unit on Sunday arrested two drug traffickers along with a large amount of suspected brown sugar from Aigejang Saivom Village, Tengnoupal District a/p Pallel Bazaar Aimol Road on Sunday around 11:30 am.
The arrested drug traffickers have been identified as Lhunkholen Lhanghal (31), son of Thangkhomang Lhanghal of Aigejang Saivom Village, Tengnoupal District a/p Pallel Bazaar Aimol Road and Onkhogin Baite (35), son of Paomang Baite of Tuipi Lokchao, Tengnoupal District.
According to Police sources, acting on reliable information at about 11:20 am of the same day, combined teams of Kakching Commando Unit led by SI L. Rocky Singh and N. Tikendra Meetei OC/CDO Kakching raided the dwelling place of the drug trafficker Lhunkholen Lhanghal for concealing some illegal drugs, suspected to be brown sugar, at his house for purpose of selling.
On checking the bed room of the said drug trafficker, one plastic sack containing 100 numbers of soap cases, 4 numbers of pink colour soap cases, 31 numbers of red colour soap cases, 7 numbers of blue colour soap cases, 5 numbers of light blue soap cases, 3 numbers of green colour soap cases, 14 numbers of light green soap cases, 3 numbers of mixed colour soap cases, 4 numbers of grey colour soap cases and 29 numbers of coffee colour soap cases, were found containing powder like substances suspected to be brown sugar in each soap cases.
On initial interrogation, Lhunkholen Lhanghal revealed that the content of the soap cases are contraband brown sugar and the same was brought from Moreh for selling to the drug users.
Further, Lhunkholen Lhanghal revealed that Onkhogin Baite who was found at his courtyard at the time of the house search was sent by one Paolin Baite of Lokchao, Tengnoupal District for caring and guarding the said drug.
Accordingly, the combined teams seized the detected 100 numbers of soap cases containing suspected brown sugar, one mobile handset Poco X2 with one Sim card from the possession of Lhunkholen Lhanghal by preparing a seizure memo at around 11:30 am.
Lhunkholen Lhanghal and Onkhogin Baite were also arrested by the combined teams at around 11:45 am by furnishing an arrest memo in presence of the witnesses.
The arrested persons along with the seized articles have been handed over to Tengnoupal Police Station where a case has been registered for further necessary legal actions.
