IMPHAL: The Joint Non-Government Voluntary Organization (JNGVO) has demanded expedition of the process of delimitation of the Municipal Wards of Kakching Municipal Council before the upcoming Municipal Council General Elections.
A press release of JNGVO said that a set of representations have been submitted to the concerned higher authorities for delimitation of the existing Municipal Wards under Kakching Municipal Council as there are many discrepancies and uniformities in the set up of the wards.
It claimed that wards number 5,6,8,9 have above 1000 electorate whereas
ward number 4,7,11 and 12 have nearly 3000 electorate but the jurisdictions of the wards vary much and many difficulties arise in the implementation of developmental schemes.
The organization has been demanding delimitation of the wards since 2008 and a sub-
committee for the same was formed in 2010. And in the latest case, a representation was submitted to the Chief Minister on June 16 last, it reminded.
JNGVO urged the chief minister to expedite the process of delimitation of the wards of Kakching Municipal Council by increasing some more wards before the upcoming Municipal Council General Elections to bring uniformity in development and welfare programmes.
