JD(U) to contest 2022 state elections with maximum candidates: Ramprit Mandal

Imphal: The in-charge of development of North East Region, Janata Dal (U), Ramprit Mandal has announced that the party will be contesting the upcoming state elections in 2022 by entering maximum candidates.

Mandal, who is also a Lok Sabha MP from Bihar, made the statement while addressing the annual meeting as the chief guest at GM Hall on Saturday. Interestingly, the MP who spent more than three decades in Manipur, began his address in Manipuri.

Ramprit Mandal lauded the warm greeting accorded to him and hailed the state of Manipur in the local language.

MP Bihar has also announced the appointment of state unit general secretary Dorendro and Rabikanta as members of project coordination in the consultative committee of the party. He gave his assurances to give full priority on the development programme of Manipur and spoke on giving assistances in poverty alleviation and welfare programmes for the needy who are undergoing difficult time in consultation with the chief minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, through the local functionaries of the party.

The chief guest further praised Nitish Kumar for his sincerity, kindness, commitment to the poor people and assistance provided to women who are facing the evil consequences of dowry system in Bihar.

Chief General secretary JDU Manipur state unit, Meisnam Dorendro Singh in his welcome address said that Janata Dal party has been existence in the state for many years but due to problems in issuance of tickets to the candidates at the elections and consequent absence of representatives in the Manipur Legislative Assembly it has constantly been losing ground. The ensuing development has been a great loss for the party and displayed a negative perspective of the party administration to the public, he added.

He further informed that he had resided in Manipur more than three decades, even though he is bonafide citizens of Bihar, and had served as a leader of organization of non-local in Manipur. The fact that he is an Mp is an advantage for the people of Manipur as he was well aware of the conditions in the state and assured his assistance in bringing definite change in the state.

The felicitations programme was successfully held in the presence of MP Mandal, state president JDU Hangkhanao  Taithel,  ex-minister Ningthoujam Bihari and leaders of JD (U).
