IMPHAL: A Joint team of JCILPS, Woman Wing and Students’ Wing on Thursday conducted a special drive cum awareness campaign in Imphal city to check if the non-locals in the state are residing with valid ILP pass or not.
JCILPS Convener YK Dhiren told reporters that enactment of ILPS in the state has completed 42 days and such special drive was carried out as the committee had earlier urged the concerned authority to issue necessary ILP passes to the non-locals staying in the capital city and other parts of the state. Such campaign was carried out with the theme “Roles of people in proper implementation of ILP in the state”.
During the drive carried out at different shops and business establishments, the JCILPS activists urged the non-locals to possess ILP pass within five days. They also urged them to follow the ILP guidelines properly and to get their ILP passes renewed within five days if their period of stay in the state has expired.
The JCILPS leader also lamented that the state government has failed to amend the ILPS guidelines published on December 31, 2019, which failed to properly define the indigenous people and base year to determine non-locals and indigenous people. He demanded the government to implement ILPS in the state properly with proper guidelines defining indigenous people and cut off base year.
Stating that Jiribam district has been issuing only temporary ILP passes to the non-locals since enactment of ILPS, he urged the government to look into the matter.
