Imphal: An awareness campaign programme on Jan Andolan for Covid-19 Appropriate Behavior was held on Thursday at Gem Public School, Pourabi.
The programme, organised by ICDS Project Impal East District, Sawombung was held under the theme “No Carelessness Till Medicine Is Found”.
Social Worker Sorokhaibam Aruna and Principal of Gem Public School Pourabi cum Publicity Secretary of Covid-19 Joint Task Force Pourabi Wahengbam Janmenjoy Meetei attended the rogramme as presidium members.
Speaking in relation of the topic of the programme, Wahengbam Janmenjoy Meetei said that even though the testing rate of COVID-19 has decreased due to shortage of test kit, there has been a constant rise of positive cases numbering about 200 on a daily basis.
Stating that one of the main agent of contacting the virus is small children, he added that until a medicine or vaccine is discovered, one must take the best precautionary measures to protect and contain from the virus.
Wahengbam Janmenjoy Meetei said that the time has arrived wherein Security and Police personnel have laid down their arms and come to the streets, rallying to aware the public on COVID-19 and urged everyone to make the flagship program of Government of India “Jan Andalon for Covid-19 Appropriate Behavior” a meaningful one and also to follow and obey the Covid-19 SOP guidelines.
He also appealed the people to support the concerned department and organisations while organising such programme by ICDS in the coming days.
A rally was also carried out holding different placards at Pourabi in connection with the programme.
Workers and helpers of ICDS also demonstrated on hand washing and wearing of face masks.
