Imphal: The International Sanamahism Students’ Association, Kangleipak (ISSAK) has condemned in the strongest term the reported vandalization of Ema Kounu Lairembi on October 4, 2020.
In a press release the association recounted that such acts of vandalism related to religious places were not isolated cases. It recounted the firing incident during Lai Haraoba at Pallel Laikon that claimed a person on the spot and injured four individuals and the tragedy at Uningthou Ujao-Urel. Taking serious note about the various past incidents and at the same time the most recent case of vandalizing Kounu Lairembi, the association drew the attention of state government and concerned authorities to take up befitting action against those individuals involved in harming the shrine.
If the government or concerted authorities fail to take up an action at the right time, it will lead to emboldening the perpetrators and continuation of similar incidents as a kind of habit, the association said. It can also direct pressure to all the Sanamahi followers.
The association further drew the attention of the state government and its concerned authorities to give protection so that such heartbreaking incidents do not happen again in the future.
