IMHAL: As a part of the ongoing series of awareness programme on Covid-19, the Indian Red Cross Society, Imphal East District conducted another public meeting on the subject on Saturday at Brahmapur Guru Aribam Leikai, which was organised by Resource Development Centre, Guru Aribam Leikai.
GA Brajabidhu presided over the awareness programme. IRCS chairman Dr. Y. Mohen Singh, Secretary Dr. RK Nimai, and Treasurer Dr. Sunil Senjam, and chairman of IRCS Imphal East Narendra Ningomba attended as the resource persons and gave comprehensive information over the crucial stages of Covid-19 and ways to avoid by taking precautions and preventive measures.
Dr. Y. Mohen elucidated the latest natures of transmission of the virus. Dr. Sunil explained the methods of testing and results and also enlightened the people on information on invention and production of vaccines for Covid-19. Dr RK Nimai spoke in relation to the diverse impacts of Covid-19 affecting people at the worst. He also shared the aspect of dos and don’ts that people have to follow as part of the preventive regimen.
Narendra Ningomba told the gathering about his regrets that the people in the state seem to be getting negligent in following the basic guidelines and preventive measures, as can be witnessed from the spike in number of new positive cases daily. He appealed to pro-active groups in the community namely local clubs and Meira Paibi bodies to associate to their best levels in taking up preventive measures and serving as organs of propaganda in spreading the SOPs, guidelines and notifications of the government.
At the event Aken Khundrakpam and volunteers of Indian Red Cross Society gave demonstration on how to wear masks, thorough cleansing of hands etc. A discussion session with the involvement of all the participants of the programme was also carried out.
