Bishnupur: Demanding their 16 months pending work pay, 54 Irate Skill and Non-skill staff who are working under Nambol Municipal Council have locked down the Office of the Council on Wednesday and instigated a cease work strike.
Chairman of Nambol Municipal Council Ward Development Committee Skill & Non-skill Workers Association M. Kamananda Khuman said that the association has already approached the concerned Minister, Director and Commissioner to hand out their pending 16 months work pay/salary for the Skill and Non-skill staff working under the Council. However, their grievances are left unattended or heard nor turn it into work.
Thus, condemning their irresponsible act and attitude, the staff locked down the Council Office and instigated the cease work strike from Wednesday, he added.
The Chairman further said that despite the Covid-19 crisis, the staff are executing their duty, regularly and still continuing to collect the garbage of each house from door to door.
But, their duty and collection of garbage will be put on hold until their demand to hand out their pending 16 months work pay/salary is fulfilled, he added.
