IMPHAL/BISHNUPUR: In consonance with the initiative started by the Govt of India on Sunday, International Yoga Day was celebrated following all protocols issued by Ayush Ministry by troops of Assam Rifles of various sectors of Keithelmanbi, Ukhrul, Pallel, Churachandpur and Kakching inder the aegis of IGAR South to propagate Yoga and good health practices.
The word ‘Yoga’ is derived from the Sanskrit root ‘Yuj’, meaning ‘to join’ or ‘to yoke’ or ‘to unite’. As per Yogic scriptures the practice of Yoga leads to the union of individual consciousness with that of the Universal Consciousness, indicating a perfect harmony between the mind and body, Man & Nature.
The event was organised to improve the lifestyle of troops amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, IGAR(S) said in a press release. Yoga brings harmony in all walks of life and aids in disease prevention, health promotion and management of many lifestyle related disorders. Today, everybody has conviction about Yoga practices towards the prevention of COVID-19, maintaining good health and immunity. Following all the guidelines of COVID-19 protocol incl social distancing and use of protective equipments, the event was organised in clean and calm environment under the serene hills and plains of Manipur.
The event was preceded with creating awareness about COVID-19 pandemic preventive measures and educating troops and families to perform Yoga at home, IGAR(S) said. Yoga sessions, lecture by RMOs on Yoga for physical and mental well being along with quiz competition were conducted at Battalion levels. Families along with children also participated enthusiastically on Yoga day.
A strength of 212 Officers, 695 Junior Commissioned Officers, 7088 Other ranks, 329 ladies and 379 childeren all across the Manipur participated in the same.
As part of the worldwide observed, the 6th International Yoga Day was also observed on Sunday at Kwakta organised by Young Kwakta Organization (YKO) Kwakta.
Every people from work of life took part at the observance led by President YKO Anish Ahamad.
Anish Ahamad said that if we have to live a healthy with fresh mind, Yoga is one of the best medicine that we can do without expending a single penny.
Thus, we all should practice Yoga, he said.
On the other hand, BJP Imphal West District also observed International Yoga Day at Tera Lukram Leirak, Imphal West.
General Secretary BJP Manipur Pradesh and in-Charge Imphal West District Nimbus, President BJP Imphal West District Ph. Phoni and other members and workers of BJP also took part at the observance.
All the participants also practice Yoga during the observance.
On the occasion of the 6th International Yoga Day, officers and troops of STC BSF Churachandpur observed the day by practising yoga for 45 minutes from 7 am on Sunday.
This year Yoga Day was observed with proper social distancing keeping in view of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. As per guidelines of Force Headquarter and Ministry of AYUSH, emphasis was laid on doing home yoga. The family members staying inside campus observed Yoga Day at their respective homes. Whereas, the rest of the troops were segregated into different groups and each groups were placed in different places. Regular practicing of Yoga improves one’s health and subsequently it boost our immune system, which ultimately help our body to fight the ongoing Covid-19 disease.
