TMB Report

THOUBAL: The approximately 20 remaining inmates of Moijing High School community quarantine centre staged a demonstration at the gate of the school on Saturday complaining that even after many fellow occupants of the centre were found to be infected with Covid-19 authorities have not taken any reassuring steps for their protection.

The inmates stated that the centre has become a source of cluster infection and they have become afraid to continue their stay under the present arrangement.

A participant at the protest inmates were infected with the virus one after the other there are many occupants whose quarantine period are approaching 30 days. Yesterday, one inmate was confirmed positive of the virus even though he was tested negative earlier. It is certain that he contracted the infection at the centre. Even after the confirmation of a Covid-19 patient, no official or volunteer have carried out disinfection activities of the centre. At this point the risk of staying at the centre is very high and there is consensus opinion among the occupants to head off the centre, he stated.
