MOREH: In relation with 71st Indian Constitution Day, Indian and Myanmar on Thursday released a total of 62 prisoners, 34 Indians by Myanmar and 28 by India.
34 Indian prisoners were released from Myanmar jail and 28 Myanmar Nationals from Indian Jail. The released prisoners were handed over to both the nations at Indo-Myanmar Friendship Bridge on Thursday.
After a talk between Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar under the Presidential order, 34 Indians who had completed their sentence at Central Jail of Myanmar were released and handed over to Indian Officials at Indo-Myanmar Friendship Bridge.
Likewise, 28 Myanmar nationals who had completed their sentence have been released and handed over to Myanmar’s Tamu District, Immigration Officer at Indo-Myanmar Friendship Bridge.
The hand over was participated by Senior Immigration Officer Y. K. Anand from Indian Side and Aung Myo (Deputy Director – Immigration Department Government of Myanmar) from Myanmar side.
Released prisoners from both sides were tested for Covid-19 at Integrated Check Post Moreh by a team of Covid Care Center Moreh led by Dr. A. Cecil (District Nodal Officer).
