IMPHAL: On the occasion of 71st Republic Day, Major General K P Singh, YSM, Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) has been conferred with the prestigious Ati Vishisht Seva Medal by the President of India in recognition of his contribution towards effective tackling of insurgency, efficacious Border Management & maintaining peace & tranquillity in the state of Manipur.
General KP Singh was commissioned into 9 MADRAS (TRAVANCORE) Battalion in 1985. The General officer has vast experience in command and staff assignments in varied operational environments including Jammu & Kashmir, North East, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Andaman & Nicobar Island and overseas deployment in Sri Lanka. General officer has unique privilege of Commanding the famous Siachen Brigade. The General officer has tenanted important staff appointments at Army, Command & Brigade Head Quarters and premier training establishments. He has also served as Military Observer as part of United Nations mission in Democratic Republic of Congo. The General officer was awarded GOC-in-C Commendation Card twice & for his extra ordinary service during his command of Siachen Brigade, he was awarded Yudh Seva Medal on Republic Day 2014.
The General officer has been in Command of Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) since September 1, 2018 and has been instrumental in executing a large number of substantial Civic Action Projects across the state. With his operational vision, he has synergised operations and enhanced security within the state and also along Indo-Myanmar border. The General officer in synergy with Civil Administration has addressed core issues through people friendly initiatives in the remotest and inaccessible areas of Manipur. The General has provided the much needed fillip to the various government initiatives through Assam Rifles and has relentlessly strived for genuine upliftment of the people of Manipur which has received lot of appreciation from the locals.
