ICAR scientists encourage budding minds towards Agricultural Sciences

IMPHAL: Agriculture Scientists of Indian Council of Agricultural Research – National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad celebrated the National Science Day at Yambem High School, Yaripok Yambem, Imphal East.

Currently the scientists are undergoing a 21 day Field Experience Training (FET) at Yaripok Yambem Village from 25th Feb, 2020 to March, 16, 2020 and they are attached to Central Agricultural University, Imphal.  As a part of their FET, National Science Day-2020 was celebrated at the school from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm.

Scientists organized a Science Quiz competition for the students of 9th and 10th standards and distributed the prizes for the winners. Their work have created awareness on the importance of celebrating the National Science Day, according to a report.

 Along with this, they also encouraged the students to pursue their higher studies in agriculture and allied subjects. They gave brief information on the ICAR, its objectives and carrier opportunities in agriculture. The scientists are from various parts of the country and included Salam Jayachitra Devi and Thongam Sunita Devi from Manipur, Dr. Ravi, S. C. from Karnataka, Abuthagir Iburahim and Gobu R. from Tamil Nadu and Debashish Paul from West Bengal. Chinglen, Head Master of the school and Jogendra Kumar Singh, progressive farmer of the village were the chief guests of the program. The first prize in quiz competition was won by Dolly Chanu Moirangthem, Henthoiba Asem and Ningthoujam Rakesh of 10th standard. The students gained a lot of information on science and future avenues.
