IMPHAL, JAN 24: Former Chief Minister and CLP leader Okram Ibobi has lambasted the BJP government, dubbing it as a ‘photo government’ which is skillful only in spreading false propaganda and photos through the media without executing any development works.
Addressing the gathering at a day long interaction programme of Lilong Block Congress committee on Friday, the former CM said that any government department in the country cannot work without due permission from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah. The only performing department is PMO office whose job is to spread false propaganda. Chief Minister N Biren led BJP government in the state is also following the same suit. This government is also doing nothing for the people except for spreading false information of achievements and photographs through media, he said.
Stating that PM Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Biren have started a terrible campaign to destroy the country and the state, Ibobi said that all the institutions in the country have been saffronised. Even the Supreme Court, Constitution, Election Commission have been abused by the governments. The present BJP regime has failed to initiate any measures to maintain peaceful co-existence, mutual understanding among the communities. The future of the country and the state is bleak due to wrongful policies of the government, he said.
Ibobi, however, said that BJP cannot destroy the country as the Congress party is there to take the party on. No party except the Congress can protect the country from the tyrannical BJP regime.
“Let Congress fight back BJP’s detractive campaign. Please entrust us the responsibility to fight BJP”, Ibobi said adding that it only people who would decide the fate of the country and the state.
Ibobi charged that BJP, with its communal politics based on religion, has shattered the aspiration of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad and BR Ambedkar to build a strong united India. The preamble of the constitution and its spirit of secularism have been challenged.
Similar function was also held at Moirang Phurit Mandav organized by the Moirang block Congress committee.
During the function, Okram Ibobi said that the recent verdict of SC directing the state Assembly speaker to decide on the disqualification of minister Th Shyamkumar is a slap on BJP’ face. Congress was compelled to approach the SC with the Speaker failed to take up the disqualification proceedings on time. It is right time to teach a fitting lesson to BJP which is running a dictatorial and tyrannical regime in the state and the country.
He said that Congress is not worried over defection of some MLAs from the party. Their defection has rather strengthened the party with gradual rise in public trust. Congress party stands for the development of the country, he added.
AICC general secretary (NE in Charge) Gaurav Gogoi who also attended the function said that state BJP government led by Chief minister N Biren has befooled the people. Prime minister Narendra Modi is not concerned about the state. The country will continue to see chaos and turmoil as long as Modi government exists, he said.
