Imphal: A team of Imphal West District Commando has recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition suspected to be belonging to the proscribed militant outfit PREPAK-PRO from a fish farm located at Sekamijing Khoidumpat in Imphal West District on Friday around 6 am.
According to police source, the fish farm where the arms and ammunition were recovered belongs to Mayanglambam Kumar @ Ningthi Singh, son of Mayanglambam Kulapi Singh of Kakching Ningthou Pareng, Kakching District, who is also a hard-core cadre of the proscribed outfit PREPAK-PRO and presently stationed at Myanmar.
The recovered arms and ammunition include 1 AK-56 rifle, 1 carbine machine gun with magazine, 1 .303 modified rifle with magazine, 1 loose rifle barrel and two motor shells.
The arms and ammunitions have been seized and a case has been registered at Hiyanglam Police Station for further investigation, the source added.
On the other hand, a team of Lilong Police Station led by OC/Lilong Police Station Inspector Oinam Ajit Singh assisted by SI Md. Isha Khan and ASI L. Tikendro Singh of Lilong Police Station along with members of ALADA under the supervision of SP/Thoubal Dr. S. Ibomcha Singh has arrested two persons from Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai Konjin along with considerable amount of heroin powder on Thursday around 1 pm.
The arrested persons were identified as Md. Mirza Khan (37 years), son of Md. Sahidur Rahaman of Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai near ICRO Office and Md. Abdul Gaffar (32), son of late Md. Abdul Zabar of Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai near Water Supply.
According to police source, the team of Lilong Police Station recovered 132 grams of contraband Heroin Number 4 (Opium Derivatives) and one Car Maruti 800 bearing registration number WB02T 1128, green in colour, from the possession of the two arrested accused.
A regular FIR case has been registered at Lilong Police Station and investigation in going on.
