Home Department reiterates stand on lockdown

IMPHAL: The government of Manipur Home Department has ordered that the lockdown guidelines that was issued under No.40-3/2020-DMI (A) dated on July 29 2020 has to be continued to put restriction on social, politics, sports, entertainment, cultural, religious functions and other large congregations.

In a press regulation the note states that the only relaxation is for marriage related gatherings and funeral/last rites related gatherings with very limited attendance and strict observation of national directives of Covid-19 management. While various scientific studies and also actual incidents of cluster transmission included in Manipur and shown such gatherings are dangerous sources of spreading Covid-19 infection.

In exercise of the powers conferred under section 20(2) (a) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 the undersigned in his capacity as Chairperson, State Executive Committee of the State Disaster Management authority hereby reiterates the ban imposed on social, political, sports, entertainment, academic, cultural, religious functions and other large congregations except marriage related gatherings with a maximum of 40 attendees.

The Deputy Commissioners/SPs instructed to strictly ensure the guidelines are not violated. Violators, if any, should be penalized in accordance with the Manipur Epidemic Diseases enforcement of Covid-19 guidelines regulation 2020 issued vide home department notification which prescribes penalties for violation as gathering in excess of authorized number of persons on ceremonies has to be impose with Rs 10,000 , failure to wear mask and not maintaining social distancing in public places Rs.200 and any other violation of guidelines Rs.1000.

The cases of violations can be noticed through media/social media etc. shall be acted upon promptly added by Chief Secretary Government of Manipur Chairperson and State executive committee Dr. Rajesh Kumar.
