Imphal: Huyel Lallong Manipur Thang-Ta Cultural Association (HLMTTCA) demonstrated the production of Chung-Ta & Thang Chungoi Chainaba as well as felicitated its artists and APMARDS who won medals (runner up team) in the recently concluded of the 1st Chief Minister Martial Arts (Thang-Ta/Cheibi) Meet 2020 from 18th to 22nd January 2020 held at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium.
Chief guest of the function, Wareppa Naba, director, Theater Mirror said that why should our martial arts Thang-Ta not included in the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO. Thang-Ta was indentified the Manipur art and culture in the world since early part and can used it to defend the enemies. So, we need to understand the knowledge of Thang-Ta deeply, he added.
Wareppa further expressed some organizations mislead the Thang-Ta for their own interest which is drawing in sports. Though, we need to consider its merit and demerit which move into sports. And let’s think extremely which part will go to sports and which will be in Thang-Ta performance. There are many part in the Thang-Ta consisting of body, mind and heart, it will go an oneness. That time our Art will develop. And we should preserve our art and culture to make our life shines, he opined.
K. Sanathoi, Director, HLMTTCA and president of the function said that our Thang-Ta is lately pass on in the field of Sports, before this it was used to kill Animals and in battle field. He reminded the skills of our forefather who fought bravely against British empired early. We are very happy, our state government has been initiated specially in Thang-Ta by converting into Sports arena by giving financial assistance but we need to consider it may be lost our culture, he noted.
Sanathoi further said that our state Government was organized Thang-Ta Festival to preserve it, there is someone suspect to lead our Art and Culture in wrongly. Our Thang-Ta is a special art form not to be held as competition and it has quite different of game.
In connection with this HLMTTCA has handed over certificates to all the medalists and participants.
