Mohun Bagan drubs TRAU FC 3-1
IMPHAL: Table leaders Muhun Bagan Kolkata retained their spot in the Hero I-League 2019-20 after drubbing home team TRAU FC 3-1 at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium on Sunday.
With the win, Mohun Bagan Kolkata now has 35 points after 14 matches and are leader of the league table while TRAU FC went down to the 9th place with 16 points from 15 matches and are in relegation zone.
Mohun Bagan seems like in hurry as they scored all the 3 goals in the first half after pressuring the home team. Although TRAU FC also scored the goal in the first half, they were unable to add to their tally.
The visitors got the opening goal in the 14th minute through Francisco Javier on penalty, a penalty given Deepak committed a serious foul to Komron Tursunv in penalty zone. Mohun Bagan went on to score two more goals in the consecutive minute 23rd and 24th through Joseba Betia and Papa Babacar to lead 3-0. TRAU FC also found several chances especially with the attack of Joseph and Sunday, testing Mohun Bagan many times with Sunday finally finding the back of the net in the 33th minute of the match.
However, in the second half, Mohun Bagan played in defensive mood and only did counter attacks. And though TRAU FC had better ball possession, seeking goals, it failed to break the strong defense of Mohun Bagan. In the 69th minute visitor team played with 10 players after Komron Tursunov sent off with having double cautioned.
In the match Papa Babacar of Mohun Bagan and W. Angousana of TRAU FC was given yellow and Komron Tursunov of Mohun Bagan got red card.
