Pritam’s hattrick helps NEROCA FC thrash TRAU FC 5-0

IMPHAL: In one of the most excited derbies awaited, NEROCA FC Sangakpham thrashed TRAU FC Kwakeithel at home by 5-0 goals in the Hero I-League 2019-20 on Saturday thanks to a hattrick from Pritam. The match was played at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium.

With the win, NEROCA FC is climbed to the 8th position in the point table with 11 points after 11 matches and sent TRAU FC down to 4th position with 15 points from 11 matches.

NEROCA FC dominated the game from the beginning with Pritam scoring a hattrick and supported by Imaran Khan and Phili Tetteh with a goal each.

NEROCA FC Sangakpham took advantage from the beginning of the match with series of attacks through Philip Tettey and Subash Singh. S. Sandeep of TRAU FC was sent off in the 18th minute after he grasped the ball. However, TRAU FC played with played with their heart and soul. Both the teams had chances to find the back of the net especially NEROCA in the 40th minute from the heading of Boubacar Siaka from the crossing of Pritam. TRAU FC too had the opportunity in the 45+2 minute from the free kick of Patrick but it went over the bar. The first half ended in goalless draw.

In the second half, NEROCA FC attacked and created more chances with Subash and Pritam at wings and Tettey in the striking zone supported by Imaran and Jiteshwar in the mid field. The team finally found the back of the net in the 50th minute through Philip Tettey after he passed two defenders of TRAU FC and shot in. Later, Imaran Khan in the 58th minute, from a pass of Pritam added to the scoresheet. It was an unlucky day for TRAU FC as N. Pritam added to the tally for NEROCA in the 60th minute and 66th minute of the match, both passes coming from Imaran Khan. TRAU’s experience striker Prince Will Emeka and defender Abhishek Das was replaced in the second half for injury and the team’s momentum decreased and lost their strength. They tried hard to defend the attack NEROCA FC but could not guard it. In the 70th and 73rd minute Krishnananda and Joseph attacked hard and tried to score but failed to do so. They got their last chance in the 83rd minute through Yinka Sunday when he defeated defender Gobin and kick forcefully but only to be saved by goalkeeper Philip Marvin. Then, in the additional time of 90+2 minute N. Pritam got his third goal to give NEROCA a 5-0 win.

In the match S. Sandeep of TRAU FC got red card while Pritam, Govin and Y. Jiteshwar were booked yellow card.
