Heritage Convent to include Thang-Ta as the major components of Physical Education

IMPHAL: Heritage Convent has now upgraded its institution with the inclusion of Thang-Ta subject as a major component of physical education. The inception of Thang-Ta was inaugurated with traditional ceremonies and prayer together with students, Principal, Executive Director, Staffs and teachers on the campus of the school on Friday.

Executive Director Sanjenbam Vikramjit Singh advised the students to understand and acquire the knowledge of its purpose of educating the body, mind and morals through the indigenous Martial arts (Thang-Ta). He motivated all the students saying that the newly included subject will also help in gaining morale, discipline and self actualization for the students and to inculcate in the minds of younger generation for possessing leadership quality, discipline, personality development, team spirit, sportsmanship, co-operative service for the social welfare of human character in the society.

Kangleipak Indigenous Martial Art and Cultural Society (KIMACS) publicity secretary Thanjam Suraj Meitei said that with the granted permission by the authority of Heritage Convent, the new indigenous subject of Thang-Ta will be starting to include as an optional subject in the school. Further stating that the mission of KIMACS is to promote cultural education to the learners of educational institutions and preserve the different heritage indigenous Games, Martial Arts (Thang-Ta) of different indigenous communities. He appreciated the school authority for extending their co-operation to help preserve and educate the art form of Thang-Ta. He also sought the attention of authorities for all others private, government and aided school for their best level to keep motivating and extending their roles in expanding to educate the indigenous form of martial art (Thang-Ta).
