Imphal: Health and Family Welfare Minister L. Jayantakumar Singh on Monday distributed portable ventilators for five district hospitals of the state as a measure to fight against Covid-19.
Speaking at the occassion held at the conference Hall of the Health Minister at the South Block of Old Secretariate Imphal, Shri Jayantakumar Sinigh said that ventilators had been allready distributed to almost all district hospitals earlier. Ventilators were handed over to CMOs (Chief Medical Officers) of five districts namely Pherzawl, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Kamjong and Noney today.
Minister said that these portable ventilators have multipurpose uses. These can be used in ambulance, hospitals and even at homes when necessary. He said that during this juncture of coronavirus infection all over the world the necessity to procure such life supporting medical equipments is very much needed. The Health Department is also planning to procure more numbers of such equipments to facilitate hospitals in the state. In this regard Ministry of Health, Government of India has been communicated, he added.
Minister Jayantakumar also informed that there may be other respiratory diseases apart from coronavirus infection. The best step which we can adopt to contain such diseases is to maintain good hygine and to follow existing instructions issued by the government time to time. Minister also advised that it is time to learn to live with covid-19.
Director, Health Services, Manipur Dr. K. Rajo Singh and other health officials were also present at the occasion.
