Health director calls for cooperation in fighting COVID, says present SOP to continue

IMPHAL: The Director of Directorate of Health Services (DHS), Manipur K. Rajo Singh said that the ongoing standard operating procedure (SOP) will continue to be followed till a Covid-19 vaccine is invented and even if the vaccine is invented it will continue to be followed till the State become normal again. According to the expertise the virus will exist in life.

During the Fifth Weekly Press Briefing on Covid-19 update organised by DHS and National Health Mission (NHM) on Friday at Medical Directorate, Lamphel, the Director K. Rajo Singh appealed to the public to cooperate with the department and to strictly follow the State SOPs of wearing masks, social distancing, and washing hands frequently and to support against the fight of the pandemic.

Further, he said that with the coming of festive season Diwali, Ningol Chakouba the State has encountered more positive cases in the last few weeks and he added that Christmas is coming soon and there is every reason for taking up proper precautions and responsibilities.

The department has appealed that if a person has symptoms and is suspected to be Covid-19 it should immediately report to the department and test in time in order to take proper cautions and cure.

He provided information on death parameters, age distribution of death, district wise death, Hospital wise death and death sex distribution in the state.

The briefing was attended by Additional Director of DHS Dr.Khoirom Shasheekumar, representative from both RIMS and JNIMS, CMO of Imphal west and dignitaries of the department.
