IMPHAL: State Health Department has advised the people to avoid large gatherings and to review their participation in large gatherings especially during Yaoshang festival.
Dr K Rajo, director, Health Services Manipur in a statement said that state governme nt has taken pro-active steps for screening of travellers for Coronavirus as per advisory from the Ministry of Health. Screening at Imphal airport began from January 18 while screening at land routes began from January 31. Till date, 121625 travellers have been screened while 352 are under Sureveillance, oit of which 179 have completed 28 days of surveillance.
In view of the increased number of confirmed cases in India, an intensive review meeting with Chief Minister N Biren in the chair. Chief Secretary, Princiapl secretary (Health), Health Director, Directors RIMS and JNIMS, Police department, customs, DCs, Regional director of Health and Family Welfare, GOI and other officials of the Health department attended the meeting.
The meeting resolved to introduce self declaration forms at Moreh and also to collect passengers list from Buses/vehicles entering Manipur as a part of the measures to improve tracking of travellers.
Apart from setting up Isolation wards at RIMS, JNIMS, isolation wards will be set up at Sub district hospital at Moreh, Mao and Jiribam and quarantine facilities will be set up at ICP Moreh and TB Hospital, Keirao Wangkhem. Deputy commissioners will convene meetings of District Surveillance committee and enhance awareness about the Virus and preventive measures.
