TMB Report

IMPHAL: Manipur Hawkers’ Association said that the suspension of work for a few days in view of COVID-19 outbreak has been revoked and the hawkers will resume normal work of distributing newspapers to the people from April 1, 2020.

In a statement, MHA General secretary Laikhuram Surjit Singh appealed to the hawkers to take self-precautionary measures like social distancing while performing their job. It appealed to the members to collect hand sanitizers from the office of The Sangai Express.

Expressing regret over suspension of work thereby disrupting normal distribution of newspapers to the people, the association said such step was taken up as a precautionary measure to stay safe from Covid-19.

Stating that hawkers collect newspapers from media houses on daily payment basis, it also appealed to the newspaper readers to clear the outstanding dues to ensure that the hawkers can continue their job properly.

The association also appealed to the law enforcing agencies not to harass the hawkers who are distributing newspapers to the people during the lockdown and curfew.
