IMPHAL: The GPRN, Zeliangrong Region has expressed its profound gratitude towards the great initiatives of the BJP government under the dynamic leadership of chief minister N. Biren Singh, stating that tremendous efforts to reach out to the unreached, especially for the hill districts of Manipur, where there is now visible proofs of development works like road connectivity, upgrading of health sector, leaders day, go to the village and as such to name a few.
In a press release, issued by its supervisor Tamenglong and Longmai (Noney) in-charge, it was stated that the regional group warmly welcomes the induction of a new minister of CAF & PD and had lifted their hopes that he would render his service without partiality.
However, the NSCN group expressed strong resentment over the partiality and motives of the preceding minister of CAF & PD, claiming that he had not been addressing the voice of the hill people and building nexus with a handful of ‘dacoits.’
The group incriminated a person from Langthabal with a nefarious motive of charging huge percentage during allotment and diverting large portions of the allocation which was sold in the market at higher price. Even under the guise of certain unknown organizations, he deducted portions from the allotment of ration of CAF & PD which were meant for Tamenglong, Noney (Longmai), Nungba and Tamei. The press release asserted that the booty was shared among the looters and the MLAS and ministers as well.
As a direct result, the common people on the other suffered a lot due to the lessening of the amount of their shares of ration (food grain) during the time of trial, it added. Thus, the non legitimate actions of the former minister of CAF & PD and his handful of ‘dacoits’ were nothing but illegal activities, it added.
The Zeliangrong region of GPRN condemned in the strongest term the act of stealing the legitimate rights of the hill people even in the small matter of food security which is the basic requirement to sustain livelihood by one and all, irrespective of people who are poor, rich, young, or old on a daily basis.
Further, it mentioned that during the month-long nationwide lockdown due to Covid-19 pandemic they could not even receive their equal shares of ration. The press release questioned whether the manner of treatment with a reflection in partial distribution of ration is what is being touted as equality among the valley and hill brethrens, contending that there is no visibility about such a thing in the real pictures.
The concerned organisation further appealed to the new Minister, CAF & PD to initiate a thorough investigation into the wrongful distribution of food grains and to allow the respective district mechanism to do their own business of shifting and distribution of ration (food grain) for its own citizens so that grievances of common people can be redressed to a great length.
Hence, it was felt that such rejuvenating works would help to remove the barricades of differences and bridge the gaps between the brothers of valley and the hill and uphold the bond of never ending love inherited from time immemorial. It is also highly expected and hopeful that concerned competent authority will kind heartedly convert the words and assurances into legitimate actions thereby, it added.
