IMPHAL: The state’s units of the Republican Party of India (A), Democratic Bharatiya Samaj Party (DBSP), Akhil Bharatiya Hind Tranti Party and Hindustan Janata Party have announced the formation of a new political alliance called the United Front, Manipur.
The decision to form the new alliance was arrived at a joint meeting of the said political parties held at the office of the Republican Party of India (A), Manipur state unit at Sagolband Yengkhom Leirak Machin, Imphal west on Thursday. The meeting was chaired by Sapam Shamungou president RPI (A), Manipur state unit, informed Chabungbam Premchandra Singh, who is the new convener of the front, in a release.
The meeting unanimously elected Sapam Shamungou as chairman of the newly floated alliance while Chabungbam Premchandra, president DBSP state unit will serve as Convener.
Pukhrambam Maipak, president HJP, Dr. Moirangthem Dhanabir, president ABHKP, were elected as vice presidents while Keisham Anand, state secretary DBSP, will be an executive member of the front.
The meeting further resolved to strengthen the new front by bringing in other like-minded parties and to entrust the convener with the task to initiate steps to fight the current issues in the state.
