Four COVID-19 related deaths takes tally to 44, recovery Rate improves by 77%

IMPHAL:  Four more patients succumbed to COVID-19 during the last 24 hours to take the total count of COVID-19 related deaths to 44 in the state.

Two male patients, aged 46 and 68 years respectively, from Imphal East district expired at JNIMS while another 74 year old female patient from Imphal West district expired at RIMS. One 42 year old security personnel of CAPF expired at Churachandpur District Hospital in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the state’s total tally of COVID-19 confirmed cases has surged to 7470 with 108 more fresh cases including 82 civilians and 26 personnel of CAPF testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.

According to a statement issued by Dr Shasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director Health Department and Spokesperson Covid Common Control Room, the 82 civilians include 59 males and 23 females and 74 of them have no significant travel history.

The cases were detected for the virus at Viral Research & Diagnostic Laboratory  JNIMS (12), RIMS (17), Noney (2), Shija Hospital (1), Jiribam (10), Ukhrul (1), Churachandpur (16), Babina Diagnostic (9), RIMS RAT (6), Bishnupur (4), Imphal east (2), Samaritan (1), Imphal west (2), Tamenglong (3) and Raj Medicity (5).

They belong to Imphal West district (15), Bishnupur (6), Churachandpur (3), Tamenglong (3), Tengnoupal (2), Kakching (1), Jiribam (3), Ukhrul (1), Imphal east (1), Bishnupur (1) and Thoubal (1). All the infected patients will be shifted to COVID care facilities and necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, added the statement of CCR.

On Thursday, the state saw an improved recovery rate by 77.55 percent after 245 COVID patients were discharged from different hospitals.

The 245 Covid-19 patients were discharged from CAPF (158), JNIMS (9), RIMS (5), CCC Wangjing Lamding (8), CCC Lamboikhongnangkhong (34), CCC UNACCO (28), CCC TK Ukhrul (1) and CCC Kangpokpi (2) after they were found Covid-19 free on RT PCR test.

Altogether 5793 patients have recovered and the active Covid-19 cases stand at 1633 in the state. The figure includes 1243 civilians and 390 security personnel.
