IMPHAL: Four BJP Ministers Education Minister namely Th Radheshyam, Works Minister Th Bishwajit, Social Welfare Minister Nemcha Kipgen, and Agriculture Minister V Hangkhanlian, who have been in the national capital for the last few days, have returned to Imphal on Tuesday.
The ministers arrived at BT International Airport Imphal at about 11:00 AM Tuesday morning. However, it was a disappointment for the scribes who had gathered there as the ministers refused to give any details about their journey to the national capital.
The four ministers left Imphal on July 17.
During the brief interaction ahead of their departure on that day, the ministers had informed that their Delhi trip was for meeting with the Central Ministers, who are relevant to their respective portfolios and to discuss about strengthening the BJP lead Government in the state. Despite the ministers’ display of bonhomie within the party and justification of their sojourn, the Delhi trip had promoted tongue wagging at such a crucial time when the state is not experiencing a conducive political atmosphere due to signs of internal dissidence having erupted within the Government yet again. Ever since BJP coalition Government came to power in 2017, it is rare for all the BJP ministers, except the Chief Minister, to go together to the national capital to meet central leaders and as such people did not take their Delhi trip lightly. Some political analysts had construed their trip as a convenient visit to lobby the central leaders to replace Chief Minister N Biren.
Earlier, Works Minister Thongam Bishwajit had denied media reports which linked their Delhi trip to lobbying the central leaders to replace CM Biren.
During their stay in Delhi, the ministers met BJP national president JP Nadda, Union Minister of state for Power (independent charge) Raj Kumar, Union Minister of Animal Husbandary, Giriraj Singh and others.
Upon arrival at the Imphal BT International Airport today, the four ministers underwent Rapid Antigen Test by the health officials. It is said that all their samples were found negative for COVID-19.
