Imphal: A team of Imphal West Commando has arrested two drug peddlers from Waikhom Leikai, Imphal West on Thursday around 2:45 pm.
The arrested persons have been identified as Md. Ashiqur (25), son of Md. Fajul Rahaman of Lilong Tamyai Sumang and Md. Ziaur Rahaman (24), son of S/o Md. Abdul Rahaman of Lilong Tamyai Sumang.
The team also seized one i20 car along with banned contraband items, i.e., 3780 pieces of Bijali (Khaini) and 3780 pieces of Nebala (Khaini).
The arrested persons along with seized items have been handed over to Food Safety Administration, Imphal West for further necessary legal action.
On the other hand, a combined team of Moreh Police led by S Syed Ershad Ali and CDO Moreh Post has arrested two individual along with contraband brown sugar while conducting frisking and checking at Kondong Lairembi Check Post on Thursday around 1:00 pm.
The arrested person have been identified as Zamkhosei (34), son of Hemkholun of T Muljol village Churachandpur district and Vakneijem Gangte (38), wife of (L) Lientinmang Gangte of Canan Veng Churachandpur district Manipur.
The duo was arrested with 839gms of suspected Brown Sugar.
According to police sources, the combined team under the command of Additional SP (Ops)/Moreh M. Amit Singh and under the overall supervision of Sp/Tengnoupal District Th Vikramjit Singh carried out frisking and checking at Kondong Lairembi Check Post.
At around 12.30 pm the team spotted an Eeco Van bearing registration no. MN06LA – 7314 coming from Moreh towards lmphal along NH-102.
The team stopped the Eeco Van at near Kondong Lairembi for checking.
Upon checking the said vehicle, 70 packets of suspected brown sugar (44 packets in soap case and 26 packets without soap case) weighing about 839 grams approximate including a transparent plastic packets were recovered inside the back seat of the said vehicle
On preliminary questioning the team learnt that the said contraband drugs belongs to the driver of the vehicle Zamkhosei, son of Hemkholun and the passenger of the vehicle Vakneijem Gangte had the knowledge of the said contraband drugs which were recovered from the vehicle.
They arrested persons and the seized items have been handed over to Moreh police station for further legal action, the source added.
