IMPHAL: The Federation of Haomee (FoH) on Monday has urged the state government and other related authorities to fill up shortages of doctors and nurses at Ukhrul District Hospital on or before September 20, 2020, failing which it has announced the imposition of a bandh in roads in Ukhrul district from the next morning that is September 21, 2020.
In a press release it was stated that the people of the district which have a population of 1, 83, 998 (census-2011) have been demanding for the last many years the filling up of the lack of 15 doctors, 17 nurses, including specialists in Anesthesia, Sinologists, Orthopedics, blood Bank, surgeon etc. But unfortunately, there has been no action till date.
It was said that due to lack of doctors in the district hospital, many patients’ lives have been claimed because of having to travel 80 kilometers to reach the capital of the state Imphal. The federation took the decision of calling the bandh looking for the welfare of the entire people of Ukhrul district. The federation firmly believed that the state government would fulfill the demands and needful necessity of the district hospital before the given date line, the press release added.
However, in case the bandh becomes necessary, patients, media, water supply, electricity departments etc will be exempted. The federation further appealed to all public to give cooperation in the stir reminding that it is being taken up for the welfare of the entire people.
