Five state hockey players called up for national hockey camps

Imphal: Five hockey players consisting of three males and two females from Manipur will participate at national hockey camps to be held at Sports Authority of India (SAI), South Centre, Bengaluru in the month of August and September, 2020.

After six weeks long break Hockey India rescheduled the training camp for the Indian men’s and women’s hockey teams from 4th August, 2020, which was scheduled to resume on July 19, but was adjourned due to Covid-19.

The men players who will attend in the India Training Camp are Kangujam Chinglensana, Khadangbam Kothajit, and Shanglakpam Nilakanta Sharma while Pukhrambam Sushila and Kharibam Bichu will be attending the camp for women.

The training camp is purely meant for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.

The players are to report on August 4, 2020 at SAI Centre, Bengaluru. Kothajit, Nilakanta and Bichu will be leaving Imphal on August 3, 2020 for the camp via New Delhi while Chinglensana and Sushila who are in Mumbai, will be reaching the training camp on the same day from the city.

It will be the proud moment for all of us and a new height for Manipur as well if 5 players are included in the Indian hockey teams. Chinglensana, Kothajit and Nilakanta will be among 33 men players while Sushila and Bichu will attend the women camp among 24 players from all over the country.
