‘Source of infection of two doctors and a nurse being investigated’
Chief Medical officer of Bishnupur District L. Gojendra said that investigation is on regarding the sources of infection of two doctors and a nurse serving at the isolation ward of Bishnupur District hospital who were found positive of COVID-19.
He informed that after thorough discussion with Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur District, a decision was made to turn the district hospital into an isolation ward after 34 inmates of Diligent School quarantine center of Moirang were found positive of COVID-19.
In view of the worsening situation 4 doctors and 5 nurses were deployed for duties from 8th to 14th of June, but unfortunately two doctors and a nurse were found positive of the virus.
He said that medical frontline workers such as doctors and nurses were instructed to carry out duty charts for a week, then thereafter remain in isolation ward and self home quarantine for two weeks further respectively, during which they were also tested for COVID-19.
CMO L. Gojendra told the press meet held at A-Block of Bishnupur Mini secretariat that the two doctors and a nurse found tested positive of COVID-19 were kept in secured zone with regular check up and tests being conducted.
The delay in giving out results of tested samples of both institutional and community quarantine centers of Bishnupur District conducted in JNIMS and RIMS are due to shortage of facility, he added.
