Fit India Freedom Run held in Manipur

IMPHAL: In collaboration with Hockey Unit of Imphal East, Manipur Hockey organized the Fit India Freedom Run from Bashikhong to Khongman Mangjing with the objective of spreading public awareness on the importance of fitness and freedom from diseases.

As per a press release, the main function was held at the premises of Oriental Club, Khongman Mangjing with the presence of the president of Hockey India Gyanendro Ningombam, president of Manipur Hockey Basudev Singh, president of AMWJU Bijoy Kakchingtabam, president of Oriental Club G. Ranjit Sharma, president of Social Workers’ Congress P. Bandhan and Pradhan of Khongman Gram Panchayat M. Nungsirei and Seram Neken.

While the president of Hockey Unit of Imphal East and Secretary of Manipur Hockey delivered the keynote address of the main function, earlier, the run was flagged off from MEIRAA Ground, Bashikhong by the Pradhan of Bashikhong Gram Panchayat Binota Devi along with president of MEIRAA Mutum Ibochouba and N. Ranjit Treasurer of Manipur Hockey.

Further, it added that altogether 80 athletes from various affiliated hockey clubs of Imphal East district participated in the run.

The Hockey Unit of Imphal East has 12 clubs namely SEYO Singjamei, HAYT Singjamei, SYUC Uchekon, YCCIC Ahallup, Hockey Union Khurai, Khongman Students Club, Khongman Hockey Academy, SWC Khongman, Oriental Club Khongman, MEIRAA Bashikhong, WPC Angtha, and SWECA Thiyam Konjin.
