TMB Report

Imphal: MP RK Ranjan visited different areas of Loktak Lake so that a proposal could be sent to the DoNER minister to take up developmental work in the very area to benefit the fishermen.

Speaking to media persons, MP Rk Ranjan said that the commercial fishery farm located at Takmu is in a savvy condition and it is not fit to be a fishery farm anymore.

He urged the State Fishery Department, Government of Manipur to remove the “Fumdis” at the earliest and convert it into a suitable fish farm.

The MP also urged the LDA to remove “Fumdis” from Longhum Pat and Khunjem Pat as the lake has become a terrestrial area with no cleaning activities taken up and to make the lake ecosystem return to its original habitat.

Recalling the recent incident of Thanga Karang where a pregnant woman delivered a child in the boat, he added that he will approach the DoNER ministry for the construction of fifty bedded hospital in the area.

Regarding Takmu water sports complex, the MP said that after visiting the site he felt sorry seeing the present condition and its situation.

He said, a hostel has already been there and it has been planned to upgrade the sports complex to a regional one and for this he will pursue the donor ministry.
