Thoubal: With the aim to deworm all preschool and school-age children between the ages of 1-19 years and improve their overall health, nutritional status, access to education and quality of life, the First round of National Deworming Day 2020 was launched by ADM Thoubal L. Radhakanta in a simple function held at Five Star English School, Lilong for Thoubal district on Monday.
The programme organized by District Health Society, Thoubal under National Health Mission on the theme “Worm Free Children are Healthy Children” was attended by Dr N Jayantakumar Singh, CMO/District Mission Director, DHS as pteaident, Md.Islahuddin, principal, Five star English school and chairman of the school Md.Zakir Hussain as guest of honours respectively.
Giving her key note address,Ksh. Memcha, District Family Welfare Officer, Thoubal breifed about the ‘National Deworming Programme’ and explained in detail about deworming.
In his speech as chief guest, ADM, L.Radhakanta said that the Deprtment aims to administer Albendazole tablets to 1lakh and 2 hundred students in 786 schools and 948 Anganwadi Centres of the district in the First round of Deworming Programme.
All the children who missed out in the first phase will be administered the said tablets on Mob Up Day to be held on feruary 17, he added and sought full support from all the Anganwadi workers, ASHA facilitators and teachers to make the programme successful.
District Programme Manager, DHS Thoubal Ch.Basanta,ASHA facilitators, Anganwadi workers, officials and staff of health department, teachers and students of Five star English school were present in the programme while deworming tablets were administered to the students of the school by the officials .
