Find Your Right Candidate

Many times, one has been warned of friends who stab from the back while they smile at your face, and they have always been termed as the worst kind of enemy, the enemy within. These are the kind and type of enemy that one cannot see with their own eyes until the damage has been done. And the sad truth is that they exist in our everyday lives, with a plan and mission to destroy us and the main acts of such involves betrayal, the worst of its kind. Be it in reality or even in movies, such are the most dangerous kind of enemy that can study the whole foundation of an individual, a society or a system, its strong points and weaknesses and destroy it accordingly. Such are the ways in which our society is being destroyed or harmed today, from the enemy within. While everyone smiles in front of the face, those smiles could be the worst of its kind, a fake smile, a smile before they destroy another. Be it politics or in other activities of our day-to-day life, the enemy within is always at work. There are always those planning to pull down the others for their own gain or benefit, or to just see them fall, make a tomfoolery of the innocent people. And with the elections approaching, the enemy within is perhaps at its best. Be it in the form of a candidate, the campaigners or even the supporters. Promises after promises will be made by political parties and their candidates as one has seen in the past. But it is very often, if not always, that political parties and the winning candidates have rarely lived up to their promises and look after their own agenda.

We are so used to the lies of politicians and candidates that we have developed a strong threshold of getting shock from their selfish and errant behaviours. Any candidate who promises to erase corruption, open their gates 24 hours a day for the common people, sacrifice himself for the welfare of the people (not just in the respective AC but those in the state) and bring instant development in his constituency if given the mandate and treat the electorates like his own family are welcome to the neighbourhood to canvass for support, for they belong to the typical politicians in our mind. People do not know the reason why they can afford to bear their lies but they do. The voters are also in readiness to greet the experts of rhetoric among them who talk about turning our dirty riverside into a romantic promenade and potholes filled roads into Hollywood boulevards, because quite curiously we find their tall claims rather amusing and do not count their incessant lies as bad credentials to be our representatives. Yes, the people will jump over the moon if they begin to act true to their words now and then but it seems false promises from the candidates are fine with the electorates in the upcoming elections too. We are all slaves of our habits and whatever patterns of habit they have before will not change after becoming public representatives. If a person treats his employees like casual workers and counted his pennies more valuable than their comfort all his lifelong then these proclivities are also unlikely to change when he achieved the dream for elevation of his status to that of MLAs. If only the person elected is someone whose honesty was something we have sincerely trusted and when he fails to keep his election promises due to whatever unknown reasons but it made us feel wronged, we might encounter some problems controlling our emotions. We will regard such fellows only as the enemy within but not the stereotyped politicians. Is it because we had believed in him like a friend for some period of time? The reality is all public representatives who betray the public should be treated as the enemy within. Because, they talk to us, smile and make promises as our friends. Moreover, it is their obligation to serve us as our representative as our truest friends. Our correct expectation of their debased behaviours make us condone their actions but nonetheless it does not dilute the damages they are bringing to us and the society during the tenure of representing our welfare.
