Education Minister condemns act of vandalism, assures stringent action against those involved in question leak

IMPHAL: Education Minister Th. Radheshyam on Friday expressed disappointment and concerns regarding vandalizing of School properties and the violence that erupted at Lilong Higher Secondary Madrassa on Thursday wherein over 20 students and a teacher were injured following a clash between teachers and irate students.

Speaking at the media briefing on the conduct of the examination by BSEM and COHSEM on Friday, at the conference hall of SSA, Babupara, Education Minister Dr. Thokchom Radheshyam said that stringent action will be taken against those teachers and officials involved in the alleged leakage of question papers. He pointed out that a criminal case has also already been registered.

The Minister also exposed to the media a large amount of chits caught from some of the examination centre and expressed his intense reactions against such disgraceful activities conducted within the environment of education system of the state.

While responding to all the representatives of various Students’ organization of the state who attended the press meet, he promised to implement the Act of penalty provision  as soon as possible to regulate against such wrong conduct by any authorities or individual involve in the examination centre

He stated that FIR has been lodged and enquiry committee will be establishing soon to look upon the matter as a serious concern and avoid such kind of unfortunate incident in future.

Any officials including teacher, invigilators of the examination centre involved in such degrading activities which had led to the recent crisis will face an intense actions, even to the extent of elimination of their recognition or affiliation, the Minister warned.

He urged all the school authorities, students’ organisation and Parent & Guardian association in the state to strike hard against such discouraging trends like vandalising schools properties, hitting teacher against their will of negative conducts and different other chronic immoral activities.

Education Minister further acknowledged organising awareness programs and conducting counselings treatment for better understanding and relationship between teachers and students and also the parents & guardian to avoid such kind of wild act by the students and keep end of wrong conduct during such important examination of the state. He sought helping hands and involvement of the entire authority, association and students’ organisation in taking up the best remedies of uprooting such issues in future.
