Imphal: Acting on reliable information about two hijacked Tata trucks carrying items from Guwahati to Imphal along with their drivers and being kept in Lairou Ching area of Senapati district, a team of Manipur police Special Commando unit Khabeisoi under the supervision of SP Railways cum in-charge of Special Commando Unit Th. Krishnatombi Singh and under the command of OC Special Commando Unit Subedar L. Bebekananda Singh rushed to Lairou Ching area combined with a team of Senapati district Police and rescued the two hijacked Tata trucks along with their three drivers on Wednesday at around 9 PM.
According to police sources, the rescued hijacked tata trucks are a ten wheeler truck bearing registration number AS 01 BC 8579 driven by Davinder Singh (45 years), son of late Dalbir Singh of Bhagupura, Tarn Taran District, Punjab, at present residing at Guwahati Baltola Charali; 2nd Driver Nagen Das (42), son of late Narayan Das of Siliguri Sualkuch Kuri, Kamrup District, Assam, and a 12 wheeler truck bearing registration number NL 02 Q 9318 driven by Jaswinder Singh (37), son Balwinder Singh of Sohawa, Tarn Taran District, at present residing at Guwahati Baltola Charali.
The estimated cost of the rescued items is about Rs. 30 lakh.
It is reported that the two Tata trucks and the drivers were hijacked
by suspected NSCN-IM cadres, the source added.
