Don’t make students ‘pressure cooker’, allow them to grow freely: Edn. Minister

KANGPOKPI: Education Minister Dr. T. Radheshyam inaugurated T.C. College of Teacher’s Education and Social Work, probably the first ever college of its kind in the hill districts of the state at Kangpokpi DHQs on Saturday.

The college recognized by NCTE-ERC and affiliated to Manipur University was established by Tongkhohao Kipgen under T.C. Trust with an aim to bring put bright students from the hill districts in the competitive world.

Dr. Th. Radheshyam Singh graced the inaugural ceremony as Chief Guest while Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen and ADC Sadar Hills Chairman Haokholal Hangshing attended as Functional President and Guest of Honour respectively.

Dr. T. Radheshyam Singh unveiled the monolith in the presence of Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen, ADC Sadar Hills Chairman Haokholal Hangshing and Ex-Minister Haokholet Kipgen including DC Kangpokpi and SP Kangpokpi before Rev. Letup Kipgen, Pastor KBC Centre Church Kangpokpi performed the dedication ceremony.

“We should go away from homework culture in the education system and stop making children a ‘Pressure Cooker’ rather we must allow them to grow freely and adopt creative, innovative and better understanding of the subject culture”, said Dr. T. Radheshyam Singh.

He continued that knowledge, creativity and deeper understanding of the subjects are the important tools to be promoted by the teachers as it will make them perfect in their teaching while exhorting the teachers including parents to guide, protect and prevent children while allowing them to grow freely.

He also said that educational institution is the holiest place among all stating that in Church only Christian go while only Hindu and Muslim go to temple and mosque but in school all kinds of religion can go together to become a good human being through education before adding that we must maintained the sanctity of the educational institution to produce good human being.

The Education Minister further said that teachers are the focal point in the education system for which the teachers need work with love and care not doing their job as a duty because only those who work with love and care bring good results while those who do their job as a duty never bring positive outcome.

“Where there is tube light, definitely there will be light”, said the Education Minister and wishes TC. College of Teacher’s Education and Social Work not only be a tube light but a mini sun which can bring the brightest light in the society.

Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen appreciated the opening of Teacher’s Education and Social Work in Kangpokpi District which she opined that such College become essential to be open in all other Districts of the state as well.

She also expressed her anticipation that the college will bring huge changes in the society not long in the future.

Haokholal Hangshing said that by education it means to bring out the inner quality of the child so teachers must put utmost effort in bringing out the inner quality of the child.

Cultural dance from the trainee students, presentation, appreciation and congratulations marked the event.
