Imphal: The distribution of essential items to all the remaining polling booths in Bazar area has concluded on Sunday.
In connection with the Covid-19 lockdown, the distribution began on April 15, 2020 under the leadership of Vice President BJP Manipur Pradesh Jyotin Waikhom in association with members of Thangmeiband United Club (TUC), Tribal Youth Club (TYC) and Coporator Ward No. 25 Sujata Phaomei.
A press release issued by President BJP Thangmeiband Mandal R.K. Lokendrajit stated that Jyotin Waikhom will hand over essential items under Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Awas Yojana (PMGKAY) Scheme through Deputy Commissioner/Imphal West.
The essential items under the PMGKAY which include 1500 metric tons of rice, 320 metric tons of pulses meant for the months of April, May and June months will be made available at a fixed amount of 5 kgs of rice and 1 kg of pulses to each person through Fair Price Shop agents and urged TUC and the meira paibi groups to extend help in making the public to avail the items of the full quantity, the releases stated.
The release also stated that during the distribution members of Combat Covid-19 Team will monitor thoroughly and will take survey in every household to inquire whether they have receive their respective essential items (rations) and also urge the public to support the team.
Phone numbers of 7005721674/8837286084 have been provided to receive complaints from the public, stating that legal actions will be taken up against wrongdoers in the process of distribution of the items in this critical and sensitive situation, the statement added.
