IMPHAL: The staffs of District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC), Manipur National Health Mission (MNHM) under National Health Mission (NHM) who have not been paid monthly salaries for 11 months have warned of approaching the Centre as well as the court if their grievances are not solved within 10 days.
Addressing to media persons at DEIC, RIMS Hospital Complex on Tuesday, spokesperson of the employees Khundrakpam Dinesh informed that they had approached the principal Secretary (Health) and other concerned officials regarding their due salaries. But the officials replied that the Centre had halted the salary due to non-completion of DEIC building in the State.
He further informed that the Centre had already released the funds for construction of the building in 2014 but the building remains incomplete and other essential equipment is still lacking. Informing that DEIC is responsible for treating any diseases related to new born babies and infants up to 18 months, he further said that the staffs are disheartened since they did not receive their salary for many months.
It is very unfortunate to learn that a scheme sanctioned by the Centre for the welfare of the people has been neglected he said while adding that majority of the staff working at DEIC are married and they have a family to feed.
