Imphal: Democratic Students’ Alliances of Manipur (DESAM) has appealed to the authorities concerned to reserve 25 percent of seats in all state private schools for those students belonging to poor families and under the BPL to ensure that they get proper education under RTE Act, 2009.

The statement was made by DESAM President and Convenor CCDFEZD L. Lamyanba Meitei on the sidelines of the human chain protest held on Wednesday in front of the Standard Robarth School, Canchipur in connection with Disturbance Free Educational Zone campaign of DESAM.

He alleged that almost all of the government schools of the State are defunct although the Central government sanctioned crores of Rupees. He claimed that as per reports of Annual Status of Education Report (ASER), the enrolment of students in the government schools has fallen now.
